TORONTO, CANADA – September 10, 2025 – The United Muslim-American Association (UMAA) is proud to announce its 21st Annual Convention, returning to Toronto, Canada, for the first time in 15 years. This highly anticipated event will take place from October 10th to 12th, 2025, at the Hilton Toronto/Markham Suites Conference Centre.
UMAA is honored to be partnering with The Shia Voice, the Jaffari Community Centre (ISIJ of Toronto), and NASIMCO to bring this major event to the city. “The 21st Annual UMAA Convention is more than just an event; it is a vital platform for our community,” said Dr. Azmat Husain, President of UMAA. “We are thrilled to partner with esteemed organizations like The Shia Voice, ISIJ, and NASIMCO. This year’s theme, ‘The Global Shia Narrative,’ will empower us to critically examine our identity and collectively build a stronger future.”
“We have worked tirelessly to create a comprehensive program that offers something for every member of the family, from thought-provoking lectures for adults to engaging youth activities and networking opportunities,” added Mustafa Abdi, Vice President of UMAA. “We look forward to welcoming everyone to Toronto for a weekend of spiritual growth and community building.”

The convention will also highlight opportunities for positive engagement, interfaith dialogue, and growth within the global Shia community.
The UMAA convention serves as a vital platform for spiritual enrichment, education, and community building, attracting scholars, community leaders, and families from across North America. Attendees can look forward to a wide range of programming, including lectures, workshops, youth activities, and networking opportunities.
