Dr. Azmat Husain is an experienced physician executive having served in leadership roles in both hospital and physician practice management. He has served as Chairman of Emergency, Regional Medical Director, Senior Vice President of a health system as well as most recently Chief Executive Officer of a 2-hospital health system physician practice. He also served on Pennsylvania Governor Shapiro’s transition team on healthcare. His accomplishments in the field of healthcare have been covered by numerous media outlets such as the Philadelphia Business Journal, MDLive, Bloomberg News, NPR and NBC. He currently is serving as Chief Medical Officer of his own healthcare company, Personic Health, that operates multispecialty physician practices in 10 states.
He has been active with several Shia Muslim organizations for the past 20 years serving on the board of directors of UMAA, Idara-e-Jaferia, Islamic Information Center and Global Caregivers. He has also been involved in significant philanthropic projects operating an elementary school for over 200 children in Najaf, Iraq as well as helping to establish the first Emergency Medicine physician training program for the country of Iraq.
Mustafa Abdi
VICE PRESIDENT
Mustafa Abdi works in Fiscal Management and Planning for the Department of Human Services. He has over 20 years of experience in finance and management and has worked in a variety of industries, including telecommunications, healthcare, and government.
Mustafa is the co-founder of Muslims4Peace and Standwithdignity, two organizations that promote peace and understanding between different cultures and faiths. He is also a member of the Children Home Society of New Jersey’s board of trustees.
Mustafa has received numerous awards for his philanthropic work, including the Jefferson Award for Public Service. He is a graduate of the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), where he earned a Masters of Management Technology and a Masters of Business Administration in Finance.
Mustafa is passionate about using his skills and experience to make a positive impact on the world. He is a strong advocate for social justice and believes that everyone deserves to have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Khurshaid Kazmi
TREASURER
Khurshaid Kazmi is an experienced leader with nearly 30 years of leadership experience overseeing operations in the pharmaceutical industry and facility management. He was the Vice President of Operations for nearly 20 years at Pharmaceutics International Incorporated prior to continuing on as Head of Operations for Modavar Pharmaceuticals.
He has also been serving an integral role in the UMAA convention for the past 20 years leading convention logistics and operations.
Rida Rizvi
SECRETARY
Rida Rizvi is a cofounder of Al Hadi Learning Organization. She holds degrees in Economics and English Literature and conducts operations for Al Hadi as the Administrator. Rida began her career in the public policy sphere working to implement renewable energy legislation at the pioneering firm for commercial solar photovoltaic installations, where she focused on renewable energy programs in the Mid-Atlantic region. From there, she moved to a Fortune 200 company where she worked on deploying renewable energy through legislation or regulation in restructured energy regions nationwide.
After the birth of her first child in 2013, she shifted gears to work on community organizing and mobilization in the political realm. In 2014, she also founded Ayat’s Toys, a line of ithna’asheri faith-based educational toys. She was also a 2016 Community Leader Fellow at the Institute of Islamic, Christian and Jewish Studies.
Rida enjoys travel, reading and all types of baked goods. She lives in Maryland with her husband and two daughters.
